Folk Style and Clawhammer Ukulele

with Duncan Perry

$39 Register

Do you love folk and country music? Then you need to learn a thing or two about how to play it! Discover up-picking, a technique used by Pete Seeger and other folk greats as well as the popular down-picking style, known variously as clawhammer or frailing. Along the way you'll get the basics of reading tablature, a system of notating finger positioning and techniques to enhance your playing. You don't need a banjo ukulele to learn these styles (but it's fun to have one). What you do need is a playable ukulele tuned to GCEA, an iPad or computer capable of using Zoom, basic knowledge of how to play the ukulele including the ability to make smooth and seamless transitions between, at least, the C, F, Am, and G7 chords.

Duncan Perry, a multi-instrumentalist, has been playing ukulele for over 14 years. He is a popular and experienced teacher and performer who offers classes up and down the Southern coast of Maine.

2 classes, Tuesdays, 7/12 & 7/19, 6:00pm-7:30pm, virtual, $39
