Gorham Adult Education, in collaboration with Gorham House, are excited to congratulate the 8 students who graduated on August 12, 2016 from our first Earn While You Learn CNA course.
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) course is a 180 hour, state approved course that prepares you to become a CNA and includes classroom instruction, labs and clinical work. The students had the privilege of being led by instructor, Corina Wright, Corporate Trainer for Continuum Health Services at Gorham House.
The Earn While You Learn program allows students the opportunity to be compensated while in a recognized, workforce training program developed in collaboration with individual employers. These programs engage employees in learning skills specific to their occupation both on the job and through formal coursework. Think of these programs as an apprenticeship is a time-proven, effective training model that continues to innovate and adapt to meet employers’ needs for skilled labor and workers’ needs for good wages with a clearly defined career pathway to advancement
Gorham House and Gorham Adult Education worked closely with the Root Cellar in Portland to offer immigrants the opportunity to participate. Gorham House provided transportation for those living in Portland.
Our eight graduates are now all employees of Gorham House.
